The NFL is finally getting in line with the times and loosening its stance on cannabis.
The new labor agreement between the NFL and players union contains changes in regard to rules governing players’ use of marijuana.
According to the NY Times, players who test positive for marijuana will no longer be suspended. Additionally, the testing window will be limited to the first two weeks of training camp, instead of April through August.
While players will not be suspended for positive tests, they can be fined based on the number of positive tests. According to the publication, first time positive tests will continue to lead to a league-mandated treatment program and players that refuse to take part in testing or clinical care can receive penalties after four violations.
I don’t understand. Just move on from this and do the right thing and let the players make the choice. There’s no secret that players smoke marijuana.
