The Bluntness caught up with Christina Reed-O’Reilly, Founder & CEO Rowley’s Good Stuff, Mother & Dog Lover, about her journey in the cannabis industry.

How did you get involved in cannabis?

Our story is a familiar one. I’d been taking CBD myself for back pain for several years and when our dog was sore from a big day, we often gave him CBD to help ease the pain. Later when he was diagnosed with painful bone cancer, we did everything we could to help make him comfortable- radiation, acupuncture, prescription pain medicine and CBD. What we struggled with was finding a CBD product for dogs that was transparent in their sourcing, had high enough potency to really show some benefits in our 160lb dog, and was something that he would actually eat!

When we couldn’t find anything at the pet store that fit the bill, we started giving him our own human grade CBD- not an easy feat since it doesn’t taste good. A little magic in the kitchen, some help from a few well connected and very talented friends andRowley’s Good Stuff was created. We mixed it with some tasty peanut butter and put it in a squeeze tube so it was easy to administer. Our dog LOVED the taste, we knew exactly where it was coming from and it actually helped to ease his discomfort and let him sleep soundly. It ended up being a rather heartbreaking way to come up with a new product, but much of this industry was born from a need to help ease pain.

What is your mission with Rowleys Good Stuff?

Our mission at Rowley's is to create a product that people can trust, is effective, and that their pets will love all while supporting the highest standards in ethical farming and sustainable business practices. We want to give pet owners a more potent alternative to the treats and tinctures that are currently on the market- they just didn’t work for our big boy. Our CBD comes from our good friends at Humboldt Family Farms, true stewards of the land and knowledgeable cannabis pioneers. We know that when a pet owner is out looking for a CBD product, somebody back at home is not doing well. Our goal is to provide an honest and reliable solution that makes it easy to administer a potent dose and feel good about the entire process. Our motto at Rowley's is "Make Good Stuff, Do Good Things".

I’m also a new mom, so my personal mission is to create something that will make my daughter proud- a company that works with the needs of our planet and future generations in mind.

What's the biggest challenge of working in the cannabis space and the biggest reward?

Well, one of the biggest challenges was breaking the stigma, but people are quickly getting educated about the benefits of CBD. Now that more studies are being done, and vets can legally discuss CBD as an option with their furry patients, people can really see the potential health benefits for their pets. The greatest reward is the honest feedback we get from the pet owners who have found relief from the stress we all feel when our most trusted friends are suffering.

Do you have any advice for any fellow cannapreneurs?

When we started, there were only a couple of pet CBD options available. Now, with so much CBD on the market today, it can feel difficult to find a niche. If you think you might have something unique that can fill a need- jump in! We thought to ourselves- we can’t be the only ones having this problem?

We would love to see more brands coming into the category promoting integrity, quality, and transparecy. I would suggest proactively ensuring that your product meets the highest standards for clean ingredients and quality assurance testing. The consumers are quickly becoming educated around what to expect from reputable CBD offerings, and a variety of new laws are on the way!

Where do you see yourself in the industry in 5 years?

Right now we are happy to remain a boutique brand in the industry. We’re able to concentrate on the quality and integrity of our product and focus entirely on CBD for pets. Over the next five years, we expect to see an industry consolidation as education and regulation up the standards for what people expect when they purchase CBD, for both human and animal use. We’ve currently got plans for some new products that we believe will continue to help our pets live their best lives.

Magic Mushrooms: An Overview of Different Psilocybin Strains and Effects

Like cannabis, magic mushrooms exist as strains and species. These terms are used to describe the physical or chemical characteristics of the plants. While they are often used interchangeably, strains and species are not the same.

Psilocybin mushrooms contain psilocybin, psilocin, and baeocystin. These compounds interact with the serotonin receptors to control biological and neurological processes like sleep, anxiety, cognition, appetite, nausea, learning, memory, and thermoregulation.

Indica vs Sativa: The Truth

When you walk into a dispensary, the first question you’re often asked is whether you prefer an “indica” or “sativa” strain. For years, these categories have served as shorthand for cannabis effects: sativas are described as energizing and creative, while indicas are thought to promote relaxation and sleep. But as cannabis science evolves, so does the understanding of what truly influences a cannabis experience—and it turns out that the traditional indica/sativa dichotomy might be more marketing myth than scientific fact.

This article dives into the origins of these terms, the science debunking their validity, and why a new classification system could lead to a better consumer experience.

The Ultimate Guide to THCV Strains

THC and CBD are undoubtedly the two “star” cannabinoids almost everyone knows about. But the cannabis plant, with its complexity and rich spectrum, contains many more lesser-known chemicals. While researchers find something new every day, so far we know that the cannabis plant produces at least 80-100 cannabinoids and over 300 non-cannabinoid substances.

THCV - or Tetrahydrocannabivarin - is one of those cannabinoids that are packed with benefits and yet still relatively unutilized. Here is all you need to know about this cannabinoid - and some tips to find the best THCV strains.
