Cannabis might be on the cusp of federal legalization in the United States, but the illegal market over the border is very much alive, and the way drugs are concealed is unique to say the least.
According to KHOU 11 out of Houston, federal officials seized almost four tons of concealed weed being shipped over the border from Mexico this week…in pots of ketchup.
The shipment was worth upwards of $1.5 million, according to the outlet, adding that its origin is still under investigation.
Ketchup might seem strange, but border agents have seen it all. According to KHOU 11:
“There's a long list of bizarre methods used to hide drugs that cross the border, including breast implants, frozen sharks, stuffed animals, fake carrots and real jalapeños.”
