The Bluntness Breakdown: 5 CBD Tinctures Reviewed

As a longtime migraine sufferer, my doctor, friends and the internet all recommended experimenting with CBD tinctures to find pain relief. It has taken a while to figure out the type, brand, and dosage of CBD tincture that works for me. Here at The Bluntness, I was surprised by the results of our own personal case study. Did a celebrity brand hold up as well as the major contenders? Find out below.

Before I break down these products, anyone interested in adding CBD oil to their regimen should know the difference between broad-spectrum and full-spectrum products. Broad-spectrum CBD contains a range of naturally occurring compounds from the cannabis plant, but typically no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Full-spectrum CBD contains up to 0.3% THC in dry weight form, based on restraints from the FDA (Food & Drug Administration).

Greenroads Full Spectrum CBD Oil

This CBD oil from Greenroads is one of the most effective we’ve found on the market. While I personally use the strongest formula available, full spectrum 1500mg CBD Oil, there are a variety of lower dosage options available. What makes Greenroads CBD oil unique is its syrup-like texture. Greenroads notes that while many other CBD oils only have two ingredients, theirs features six, which are meant to combine for better absorption. The taste of this oil is a bit sweet, but not entirely off putting.

The benefit of a tincture is the speed at which it can be absorbed. After trying many different preventative migraine medications over the years, and disliking the majority of them, CBD oil or tinctures, have been a helpful alternative. As soon as I begin to feel a migraine taking hold, I work to counteract any oncoming pain with this full-spectrum oil. About nine times out of ten, it does the trick. In addition to pain relief, this item supplies a nice calming effect.

A 30-day supply of this Greenroads CBD oil will run you about $149.99. This is based on 1MG per day, so if you have a high tolerance, you may run through the bottle a bit quicker. If you’re a first-time purchaser, discounts are available on Greenroads site in return for email signup. Purchasers can also put this product on subscription delivery and save $20.

Vena CBD

I heard about this brand while listening to SiriusXM. Never one to ignore a discount code, I gave Vena a try. I am officially a fan of this brand.

After testing their 1500mg oil in mint (also available in citrus), I committed to the subscriber rate. Not only did I feel relief, but the feeling of calm wasn’t as intense. This oil allowed us to continue on with our day, work schedule, etc. Be advised, this is considered a high dosage if you haven’t previously tried a CBD oil.

Vena has both broad-spectrum and full-spectrum oils available, in a variety of strengths and flavors. I found out the tough way that discount codes cannot be used once enrolled in auto-delivery. Vena is more competitively priced though, at $89.95 per bottle. That drops to $67.46 when signed up as a subscriber.

This brand was created by former Real Housewife of Orange County, Tamra Judge, and her husband, Eddie Judge, after the latter began to suffer from a heart condition known as Atrial Fibrillation. Born from a need for transparent, high-quality products, they set out to start a brand of their own that is committed to helping its customers find the right products to help them on a daily, weekly, monthly (and beyond) basis.

Plnt Full Spectrum CBD

Available at your local Vitamin Shoppe, I purchased this based on the sale price. Paying just $25 for the full spectrum 40ml/ bottle, it was worth adding to my list of experiments. The minty taste was enjoyable and I did feel relief. If you’re looking for a product that will also provide that calming effect - this is not that product. This product is a good option for those just dipping their toes in the CBD tincture sand. Experience relief while forgetting you ever took a tincture.

Charlotte’s Web Full Spectrum CBD

I had high hopes for Charlotte’s Web CBD oil, ordering the 60MG CBD/1ML Starter. The mint-chip taste was pleasant and the texture of this oil is likely what you’ve seen or experienced - a light oil or liquid substance. While I personally didn’t have the same response to this product, it’s important to note that Charlotte’s Web has a variety of Full Spectrum and Broad Spectrum CBD oils available in different dosages. What works for one body, may not work for another.

Charlotte’s Web’s prices are not as competitive. A 30ML bottle is priced at $119, with a subscribe-and-save option for $95.99. I purchased the “starter” bottle, at $49.99 and applaud the brand for having this option available. It felt relatively risk-free to purchase a second “starter” bottle for my sister, who also suffers from debilitating migraines. As you can see, CBD oil isn’t particularly cheap. Having an opportunity to try a product before committing to a subscription, or a new brand, is smart marketing in our opinion.

Society Plant Mushroom CBD Tincture

If you follow Bianca Snyder (@highsocietymama) on Instagram, how could you not want to try one of her products? If I could bottle her energy, I could only imagine the amount of work I’d get done in a day! I figured trying a few of her products was as close as I could get.

Her new line of mushroom-infused tinctures was very intriguing, as the benefits of mushrooms are well documented. Society’s prices are about $50 per bottle, but they usually feature a competitive sales if you join their mailing list. Like all smart brands, there is a subscription option.

However, this product is not full spectrum. My tolerance and preference for a full spectrum product left me relatively immune or resistant (not a doctor here, remember!) to experiencing relief for my migraines or tension headaches.

With that said, Society has a variety of options available to test. Had I taken this product consistently over a period of time, it’s possible that it would have cut down my total number of migraines, but my migraine warriors know - you want something in the minute to shut that sh*t down.

The Bluntness Breakdown: A more expensive product does not guarantee success.  Whether you’re looking for possible pain or anxiety relief, here at The Bluntness, we recommend research and testing. There is a product out there for you. Enjoy the process. Your body isn’t going to react simply because you tried a “big brand” name. You’ll know when you’re ready to commit to your favorite product.

Here are a few. more brands worth giving a try! Sunday Scaries, CBDfx, Medterra, and Five CBD.
